NICU Day #1

{The next eleventy-dozen posts (all the NICU Day # posts) are reposted from my Google+ and Facebook accounts that I wrote in pretty much daily throughout our NICU days. I  went ahead and posted them as if they were posted the same day as my originals. Also these posts didn’t generally have pictures so I’ll be adding pictures into them as well.}

My precious baby boy was born yesterday evening via emergency C-Section at only 31 weeks. He weighed 3lbs 6oz at birth and is 15 3/4″ long. He is currently in the NICU and doing very well. He will probably have to stay in the hospital for at least 4-6 weeks, as he must be closer to 5lbs, regulating body temp, eating, and be without any breathing episodes for 5 days before he can go home. His early arrival was caused by a placental abruption, where the placenta spontaneously detaches from the uterine wall. God is so good to us and kept us in the right place at the right time in order to get to the hospital in time. We had a wonderful team of doctors and nurses who took very good care of us and our sweet baby boy; their efficiency very possibly saved his life. We can still use all the prayers we can get and will hopefully get some pictures posted very soon. He is a blessing and so precious; our perfect gift from God.
