NICU Day #2

My sweet boy had to be intubated this morning and given something called Surfactant (a naturally occurring substance found in your lungs that helps with expansion) that he wasn’t making. His “head gear” breathing apparatus was removed in order to use the breathing tube so we were able to see his precious little face a little better. He is still holding steady at his birth weight and up until the intubation was starting to process the milk I’ve been steadily amassing for him. They are hoping to take him off the breathing tube and just put him back on oxygen as he breathes more on his own. The next concern will be jaundice which is pretty common among preemies but just hasn’t made it to my little guy’s list of concerns yet. God is still watching out for us but we still ask for your prayers as we still have a ways to go.
